Leadville Legacy Foundation Donates $55,000 in Scholarship Money to Lake County High School Graduating Seniors

This year, the Leadville Legacy Foundation is granting $55,000 in scholarships to 2015 graduating Lake County High School seniors who have chosen to pursue a higher education. The nonprofit foundation helps build a stronger Leadville community and now in its seventh year, the Leadville Trail 100 Legacy Scholarship Program donates $1,000 scholarships to each graduating senior to use towards any form of higher education.

“Giving these scholarships every year to the students of Lake County High School is such an honor for me and the entire Leadville Legacy Foundation Board,” said Ken Chlouber, founder of the Leadville Trail 100 Race Series. “It is our hope these scholarships can help to encourage students from our community to further their education and become successful in future academic endeavors, and bring that success back to the Leadville community.”

The Leadville Legacy Foundation is funded through generous contributions from individuals and corporations, and a portion of LT100 entry fees are donated to the Foundation each year as well. To date, nearly $80,000 has been raised for the Leadville Legacy Foundation with many of the donations made to coming from the participants and crew in the Leadville Trail 100 MTB and Leadville Trail 100 Run.
