Face of the Race: Leadville Athlete Services Manager Quinn Cooper

The Blueprint for Athletes Leadville Race Series wouldn’t be what it is today without the dedicated team members who make it an unforgettable experience. This week we sat down with another integral part of our team, Quinn Cooper, Athlete Service and Registration Manager.

LRS: How long have you been with the Leadville Race Series, and what did you do before your new role as Athlete Service and Registration Manager?

This is my first season with the Leadville Race Series but I have been an Athlete Service and Registration Manager for 3 years!

LRS: Have you done a Leadville race in the past? If so, which ones? Do you have any LRS races on your calendar this year?

Yes! I raced the Silver Rush 50 Run last year and earned a slot into the LT100 Run (I deferred my entry to our 2017 race!). I’ll be running the Leadville Trail 100 Run this year.

LRS: Where are you from originally? When did you start running ultra distances? How did you get into it?

I’m a Colorado native! I have lived in a couple of absolutely gorgeous places in Colorado. I was born in Alamosa, CO and lived there for most of my childhood. I spent middle school and high school in Dillon, CO and then headed west to Grand Junction, CO for college. I started running long distances in college. I ran for Mesa State for a year, then decided to start running on my own. With that said, running turned into my outlet and I have kept running further and further distances, just to see how far I can go!

LRS: What did you love most about your Leadville Race Series experience?

I absolutely love that I can relate to our ultra athletes. It’s crazy to think about all of the effort, energy and emotions that go into preparing and racing these phenomenal events!

LRS: What’s your favorite part of the Leadville Race Series?

There are so many great aspects of working for this series! My favorite is the people I work with!

LRS: Care to share a fun fact about yourself?

I am terrified of grasshoppers and crickets!

LRS: What piece of Leadville schwag are we most likely to see you wearing?

I love bright colored shirts… and hats! There is a grey/ blue Leadville shirt that sports both the MTB and Run in an oval with a frilly design- I wear this shirt a lot!

LRS: Where and when do you get in most of your training?

Every chance I get! Usually I get to put in some miles around lunch time from the office.

LRS: Where is your favorite spot to grab a bite in Leadville?

High Mountain Pies- add garlic and banana peppers to any pizza and I’m in love!
