To learn more about the Life Time Foundation, read about Bahram Akradi’s mission below:

Bahram Akradi founded The Life Time Foundation more than a decade ago. He believed that school food should feed children’s brains and bodies — not harm them. Ever since, the Life Time Foundation has been committed to removing the Harmful 7 Ingredients of Concern from the School Food Program:

Trans Fats & Hydrogenated Oils
High-Fructose Corn Syrup
Hormones & Antibiotics
Processed & Artificial Sweeteners
Artificial Colors & Flavors
Artificial Preservatives
Bleached Flour

How do we do this? We partner with school districts to provide financial support in the form of grants that are customized for every school. We have given grants for capital equipment, education and marketing to help schools eliminate the Harmful 7 Ingredients of Concern.

We also offer nutrition staff and administrators with the tools and training they need to make the transition as seamless as possible. Plus, we educate kids through our Nutrition Literacy & Movement Lessons.

Life Time Foundation is continually working to develop sustainable approaches to accelerate healthy change in school food. We have given grants to 504 schools, serving 277,000 children and 37 million meals.
