Letter From The Race Director 7/31/26
Hello Leadville Race Series Family,
We continue to be inspired and immensely grateful for the tremendous efforts of all the fire response teams on the Willow Fire. Over the last two weeks, the fire teams have increased containment to 66% and the monsoons have finally arrived. These two critical components, along with consistent and continual collaboration with all permitting agencies, have provided the necessary information to inform best possible courses for the remaining events in our season.
With this in mind, we would like to share more on impacts, timelines and details of what to expect over the coming few weeks.
Impacts:
- Hagerman Pass Road, Sugar Loaf Mountain, and Power Line are all within the burn area and will remain closed for the foreseeable future.
Wins:
- Fire teams were able to protect our value assets along HWY 300 (near the Leadville Fish Hatchery) and other crucial areas of the fire line.
- Evacuation and USFS restriction orders were updated Thursday, July 30th at 2:00pm. Restrictions were lifted, including many trails around Turquoise Lake.
Course Information:
- Course re-routes will be reviewed by all permitting agencies within the next week.
- Final route + maps will be provided no later than:
- Leadville Trail 100 MTB: Friday, August 7th
- Leadville Trail 100 Run: Friday, August 14th
Crewing and Aid Station Information:
- Crewing logistics will be provided no later than:
- Leadville Trail 100 MTB: Tuesday, August 11th
- Leadville Trail 100 Run: Tuesday, August 18th
- We will provide you with a minimum of:
- Leadville Trail 100 MTB: 3 crewing areas + 4 fully stocked aid stations
- Leadville Trail 100 Run: 3 crewing areas + 6 fully stocked aid stations
We so deeply appreciate your patience and support as we have navigated all these layers. We can’t wait to see you here in Leadville and on the start line!
– Tamira and your amazing LRS team!
