The Leadville Main Street Program is excited to welcome all Leadville Race Series racers to our city, and we look forward to cheering you on as you start your epic adventure in Leadville. You will start and end on Harrison Ave, where we hope you plan to spend a little more time to experience the historic and magical atmosphere of downtown Leadville. We are lucky to have the job of historic preservation, beautification, and the revitalization of public spaces downtown to better serve residents and visitors alike! HarperRose Studios

HarperRose Gallery is on the corner of W 6th and Harrison Ave. The gallery brings a collection of artists together to sell their local art in one amazing shop downtown. The gallery is filled from with handmade jewelry, paintings, pottery, and spunky art that would make a great gift for any loved one. It’s never too early to start your Christmas shopping, and when you find yourself on Harrison Ave., every day is Shop Leadville day! They love art and life in the mountains, which has become their special way of sharing this lifestyle with visitors and allows them to take a little piece of Leadville home. This is one of our favorite places to shop and even if you go just to window shop, it is worth the time to visit.

National Mining Hall of Fame

Interested in taking a walk through Leadville’s mining history, and other prominent mining towns throughout the nation? The National Mining Hall of Fame is open daily from 9 am to 5 pm, with last tickets being sold at 4:15. You will need an entire afternoon to walk the three story building that is interactive and full of history and information. The museum was incorporated in 1977 and is dedicated to commemorating the work of miners and people who work with natural resource. Leadville is an active mining town with the Freeport McMoran Climax Mine just ten minutes outside of Leadville, which mines for Molybdenum. Molybdenum is the key ingredient for strengthening steel and found in many other daily products! Mining is deeply rooted in our community and how Leadville was shaped, but also how we contributed to the growth of our nation.

Treeline Kitchen

The newest addition to our downtown, and it is something to talk about. It is open daily at 3:30 p.m. with a full dinner menu. Enjoy your meal inside in the interior designed rustic mining ambiance, outside on the patio where you can enjoy the fireplace, or head to the rooftop for spectacular views of the Mt. Elbert and Mt. The menu is a la cart, where you choose from fresh food and a rotating menu to keep it interesting. This is a great family-friendly location and a terrific place to end up after a long day of walking the town.

Legendary Silver Dollar Saloon

The Legendary Silver Dollar Saloon is Leadville’s oldest saloon that has a new menu and a new elevated scene. This Irish-style Western saloon has a wide variety of drinks, from your favorite beers, whiskeys and cocktails. The saloon also offers Irish specialty drinks, as well as lunch and dinner. As you walk in, you will be amazed by the charm and old wood character of the building. The walls at the legendary Silver Dollar Saloon are filled with many memories of the past, from pictures of people and places, to the last rope used in a local hanging. Doc Holliday, Oscar Wilde, and many others have wet their whistles here. During Prohibition, the Silver Dollar had booths in the back enclosed by curtains and a trap door behind the bar for quick disposal of bottles if a revenuer came to town.

Zaitz Park

Zaitz Park is our only true public space downtown, this summer the main street program and community members have spent time planting wildflowers, painting a new mural, and freshening up the park to make it more welcoming. This is where our public restrooms are located and we would encourage visitors to use the park as a place to rest, an open space for kids and dogs, and indulge in downtown Leadville.

The Tabor Opera House

The Tabor Opera House is on a mission to preserve a national and community treasure, join us in supporting the Tabor Opera House’s effort by taking a tour. The opera house is open for tours to all spaces on all three floors. Listen to the building’s storied past and the imminent threats the building faces from it’s long history of use and neglect. Tours are available daily, Tuesday – Sunday. The Tabor Opera House is closed on Mondays and tickets may be purchased at the door. Tours are given from 10: 30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., with a tour lasting 30-45 minutes. Tours begin on the hour and half hour. Today, visitors from around the world visit this magical building to connect with the scandalous story of Horace and “Baby Doe” Tabor, and the renowned mining history of Leadville.
