Leadville Race Series 2020 Cancellations, Deferral Info, and FAQs

We hope you’ve enjoyed the beauty of the fall season and managed to get outside a bit! As you know, we had to make the very hard decision to cancel all of our 2020 Leadville Race Series events that take place in the city of Leadville.  

We sure missed having you in Leadville this summer, but we’re excited to get rolling on our 2021 race season.

Monday, May 18th at 5 pm MT, all options became available through your RSU account.

How to Login or Find your race registration: 

 1) Login to RunSignup – click the circle character in the top right > Click Create Account

2.) Fill in all fields.

  1. If there is a match/ race registration with the email address that you have created an account for you will need to claim the account. There will be a box toward the bottom of the screen.

3.) Click Go Claim Them!

4.) Any account (race registration) created with your email address will appear:

            a) Click the blue Claim Account on the right side of the screen/ registration.

            b)  The registration is now linked to your profile and will bring you back to your profile page.

            c) Click Profile

You will then see any race you are registered for through the Run Signup registration platform.

5.) Find the Leadville Race Series event that you are selecting your option for.

6.) You will see QUESTIONS at the top of your screen. Click QUESTIONS *this will appear at the top of the screen on Monday, May 18th at 5pm MST.

Note: the next steps will become available for all Silver Rush Events, Leadville Stage Race, Leadville 10K, Leadville Trail 100 MTB and Leadville Trail 100 RUN registrants on Monday, May 18th at 5pm MT, at which time the cancellation options will appear.

7.) Select your desired option and answer all following questions.

              a) Reminder for LT100 MTB & RUN athletes: there is a limit to entries into the 2021 event. Once the capacity is met you will have the option for 2022 and 2023.

Additional Notes:

Athletes are able to log back into their account to change their selected option through June 16th at 5pm MT.

Athletes will NOT receive a confirmation email of their selected option.

Refunds will begin to be processed after the deadline for option selection, June 16th.

Deferrals will be recognized after the deadline for option selection, June 16th. Those who select the deferral option will need to re-complete the registration form. Information for 2021 deferral selections will be sent in November, 2020.

Although we look forward to seeing  you at our events, we understand certain things may come up that prevent you from attending. Please make note of our deferral and refund policies:

Athlete Deferral Policy

LT100 MTB & RUN

  • Athlete can defer into the following year’s event and repay 50% of entry fee at time of registration. No deferral fee.
  • Should athlete defer less than 2 weeks prior to the event – defer into the following year’s event for free (no deferral fee) and repay full entry fee
  • No refunds, no transfers, no exceptions

QUALIFIERS

  • Up to 2 weeks prior: Flat deferral fee into following year
  •  Less than 2 weeks – increased flat deferral fee
  •  Do not repay following year
  • No refunds, no transfers, no exceptions.

If the event cancels:

due to a series of reasons, including pandemic, natural disaster, etc.

Athlete Option 1: Deferral 

  • Complimentary, guaranteed entry into the following year’s event

Athlete Option 2: Refund 

  • 90+ days out – 70% refund
  • 60-89 days out – 50% refund
  • 30-59 days out – 40% refund

 No refunds on service fees or donations

Barn Burner – cancelled for 2020, all registered athletes deferred to September 18, 2021 (refunds available upon request until September 15, 2020

Austin Rattler- rescheduled to November and is still a go!

Wilmington Whiteface- will be held June 5th, 2021

Tahoe Trail- will be held July 17th, 2021

DEFERRAL INFORMATION 

We are excited to announce that the deferral registration window will open for the 2021 race on October 19th, 2020, and remain open through November 23, 2020. Please watch your inbox for a registration link from RunSignUp on October 19th and prepare to get registered! When you receive your registration link next week, please check out the FAQs on the event registration page for important deadlines and further information.

We understand that a lot has changed this year and some athletes are still uncomfortable with the thought of racing next August. If you would prefer to defer your 2021 entry to 2022 or 2023 we are happy to accommodate that request.

If you deferred into 2021:

During your 2021 deferral registration through your personal Reserved Entry link you will be asked to select either:  “Racing 2021!” or, “Please roll my deferral to 2022.” All athletes will still need to continue through and complete their registration.  If you choose to roll your deferral into 2022, you will receive an automated email from RunSignUp confirming your deferral within 5-10 days.

If you deferred into 2022/2023:

We will open deferral registration for the 2022/2023 LT100 MTB in November of 2021/2022 and you will receive an email confirming when registration is live for you to re-register through your Reserved Entry. Until then, rest assured that your deferral entry is safe and no further action is needed on your part.

Deferral and Refund options that were offered this summer. Deadline to select one of these options was June 16th:

Option 1: Donate your entry fee to your choice of the Life Time Foundation, Leadville Trail 100 Legacy Foundation or NICA (national or state league of your choice). As a thank you, we will provide you with guaranteed, non-complimentary entry into your choice of the 2021, 2022 or 2023 LT100 MTB. We will be in touch to get your selection. Limited 2021 slots available.

Option 2: Complimentary deferral option valid for 1-time use in your selection of the 2021, 2022 or 2023 LT100 MTB

Option 3: Full refund on entry fee (excluding the service fees and add on merch)

There is a capacity placed on the slots available for the 2021 LT100 MTB & LT100 Run and they will be available on a first-come, first-serve basis. Once the capacity is met, you will have the option for 2022 and 2023.

Option 1b: Donate your entry to the Leadville Trail 100 Legacy Foundation, the foundation started by Ken Chlouber and Merilee Maupin and helps fund scholarships for all Lake County HS graduates. As a thank you, we will provide you with guaranteed, non-complimentary entry into your choice of the 2021, 2022 or 2023 LT100 Run. 

Option 2: Complimentary deferral option valid for 1-time use in your selection of the 2021, 2022 or 2023 LT100 Run. 

Option 3: Full refund on entry fee (excluding the service fees and add on merch)

 During your 2021 deferral registration through your personal Reserved Entry link you will be asked to select either:  “Racing 2021!” or, “Please roll my deferral to 2022.” All athletes will still need to continue through and complete their registration.  If you choose to roll your deferral into 2022, you will receive an automated email from RunSignUp confirming your deferral within 5-10 days.

If you deferred into the 2021 MTB Camp Only:

 During your 2021 deferral registration through your personal Reserved Entry link you will be asked to select either:  “Racing 2021!” or, “Please roll my deferral to 2022.” All athletes will still need to continue through and complete their registration.  If you choose to roll your deferral into 2022, you will receive an automated email from RunSignUp confirming your deferral within 5-10 days.

Deferral and Refund options that were offered this summer. Deadline to select one of these options was June 16th:

Option 1: Defer your registration to 2021 Camp Weekend ( 2021 RUN CAMP: June 25th– June 28th.  MTB Camp: July 1st– July 4th). Waived deferral fee. Please note that your deferral is only valid for the following year’s event while registration is open. It is no longer valid after an event closes or sells out.

Option 2: Refund entry for my Camp Only or Camp + Entry registration (minus the platform /service fees).

Option 3a: Donate my entry to the Lake County School District via the Life Time Foundation (100% of proceeds to impact the lunch program in Lake County, which is currently serving 720 kids per day, breakfast, lunch and dinner. That’s 3,600 bags of food each week!)

Option 3b: Donate your entry to the Leadville Trail 100 Legacy Foundation, the foundation started by Ken Chlouber and Merilee Maupin and helps fund scholarships for all Lake County HS graduates. You will also receive early registration for the 2021 Leadman & Leadwoman Challenge.

Option 2: Refund your 2020 Leadman & Leadwoman entry fee (minus platform/service fees). Ability to register and pay for remaining LRS events, including the LT 100 MTB and LT100 Run.You will also receive early registration for the 2021 Leadman & Leadwoman Challenge.
Option 3: Donate your entry to the Lake County School District via the Life Time Foundation (100% of proceeds to impact the lunch program in Lake County, which is currently serving 720 kids per day, breakfast, lunch and dinner. That’s 3,600 bags of food each week!) You will also receive early registration for the 2021 Leadman & Leadwoman Challenge.
