Blueprint for Athletes Leadville Trail 100 MTB

As one of the most well-known mountain biking events in the world, the Leadville Trail 100 MTB is no easy feat – One hundred miles across the high altitude, extreme terrain of the Colorado Rockies. The course starts at 10,152 feet, climbing to 12,424 feet up the infamous Columbine mine. Created for the most determined athletes, riders take on technical climbs and descents, single track, and gravel and paved roads. Expect the unexpected and don’t forget to look up to take in the incredible views.

Leadville is located approximately 100 mountainous miles west of Denver. The drive time is approximately two-hours from Denver International Airport if the traffic is minimal. If you are traveling back to Denver International Airport from Leadville on Sunday, please note that your drive time may be significantly longer than two hours.

Once you have shipped, please email Mackenzie and she will be sure to inform the office and confirm its arrival. We will have all shipped bikes delivered to the CenturyLink house and ready for pick up by noon on Thursday. If you would like your bike prior to that date, please let Mackenzie know and we can arrange for you to be able to pick up from the Leadville Race Series office directly. Please note that mechanic support would not be available until Thursday, however we are happy to provide information on local mechanics/bike shops in the Leadville area.

Coach Troy Jacobson is the Sr. National Director of Endurance Training at Life Time. The creator of the Spinervals Cycling Video series, and the PWR Cycle Training program at Life Time, Coach Troy is also an IRONMAN U Master Coach, with over 25 years of experience in training ultra-endurance athletes of all levels.

Trapper is the assistant manager of personal training at Life Time Fitness in Centennial, Co. as well as a USA Cycling level 1 coach. He has been an endurance athlete for more than ten years and currently holds a professional license in cross country mountain bike racing. Trapper has started and finished the Leadville Trail 100MTB race six years, all with sub 9 hour times.

David Friedlander
David has been involved in the cycling industry for the majority of the last decade, working as a mechanic, salesperson, and manager in shops in CO and MN. He started wrenching full time in the summer of 2014 at Ute CIty Cycles in Aspen, CO. In 2016, he joined an executive program on their Race Across America campaign as a support driver and team mechanic, helping the team achieve a First Place finish. He also joined the program as a mechanic for their 2016 Leadville Trail 100 MTB team.

Daimo Shanks
Daimo has spent five years as a mechanic in the ProTour with Slipstream Sports (currently the Cannondale-Drapac team), participating in grand tours, classics, and world championships. He was a team mechanic for the BMC professional mountain bike team for three years as well as two more years working with Stephen Ettinger at the Sho-Air professional mountain bike team; in that time he’s worked many world cups and world championships. He’s worked professionally in cyclocross for the past decade, spending seasons with Cannondale-CyclocrossWorld, Rapha-Focus, Optum, and the past two seasons with the Noosa Pro CX team. Apart from that, he’s worked at the Kona triathlon world championship and was a mechanic at the London Olympics in 2012. For the past six years he was the owner of The Service Course, a high-end service shop in Boulder, CO, and authored a repair manual, Essential Bicycle Maintenance and Repair in 2011.
