Thanks to the grit, guts and generosity of the Leadville Race Series family, Leadville’s residents and local outdoor enthusiasts can enjoy new trails for running, cycling and all brands of enriching physical activity.

Using funds raised at the 2021 Race Across the Sky, Life Time Foundation — is partnering with Leadville-based non-profit, the Cloud City Wheelers, to provide $7,500 toward new trail projects in Leadville. That means more time in the saddle for all Leadville runners and riders and more opportunities for kids to build healthy, long-term habits of fun physical activity.

For the Cloud City Wheelers, this isn’t their first rodeo. Their massive impact on the hallowed Leadville terrain has already helped preserve and promote endurance sports in Lake County, and, this June, it will only continue to grow.

“In 2022, the Cloud City Wheelers trail crew will embark on its third straight year of constructing sweet trails close to home,” said Stirling Mudge, executive director of Cloud City Wheelers. “We will be building four miles of trail located on private land, otherwise closed to public use. These trails will create new sustainable access to healthy, outdoor, year-round recreation in Lake County. Work begins in June on this exciting public private trail project for our community!”

We couldn’t be more excited to continue our partnership with the Life Time Foundation and invest funds raised at our events back into the Leadville community.

We look forward to the project launch in June and to continuing this growth and partnership in 2022 and beyond.
