Just east of Austin is Rocky Hill Ranch, known as one of the first and best mountain bike ranches in Texas. This 1,500-acre playground plays host to the Austin Rattler mountain bike race. Whether you’re interested in qualifying for the Leadville Trail 100 or just looking for an amazing MTB event, the Austin Rattler is sure to challenge your endurance and motivate your early season training.
Only solo racers will be eligible to qualify for Leadville, however we do offer two- and four-person relay divisions for those who want to simply enjoy the race, hang with friends and experience one of the best parties to hit the mountain biking scene.
The race will start and finish at the Rocky Hill Ranch headquarters, and the course will consist of roughly 50% dirt road and 50% fast, single track with a great flow. This 4 loop, 15.5-mile course starts with a fast 7 miles of dirt roads heading to the north end of the ranch, then continues with some of the sweetest single track in Texas. Riders will make their way back to the start, see all their closest friends and family and then hit the loop again. We’ll have loads of aid station support to fuel your ride and the post-race party will knock your socks off.
There will be one aid station at the start/finish area, which will be stocked with Gu Energy Gels, Gu Chomps, Water, Electrolyte drink, fruit and light snacks. Cut-off times will apply.

There will be trash and recycling containers at all full aid stations and the start/finish line. Please discard any trash in an appropriate container or within 100 yards of the aid station. Intentional littering on the course will be grounds for disqualification. The course – on trails both public and private – travels past many historic sites and through areas of exceptional beauty. Help us keep them pristine.
We will be recycling all plastic and aluminum during these races, and all our events. We’ll take care of this at the aid stations. At the start/finish, please ensure you place trash or recyclable materials in the appropriate containers, which will be well marked.
Awards Ceremony will take place on Saturday at 3 p.m., approximately 30 minutes after final completion of the race.
Awards will be 3 deep in each division. Age groups are male/female in 10 year increments (20-29, 30-39, etc.).
Qualifying slots will be distributed at the Awards Ceremony. There will be 70-100 slots per qualifying event. Qualifying slot winners MUST BE PRESENT, as the roll-down qualifiers rule will be in effect at each event. All qualifier slots will be awarded and redeemed on race day.
