FAQ'S

Where do I check in on race day?

Packet pick-up will be at the Cloud City Ski Hut just below Colorado Mountain College on Hwy. 24 South on Friday, Aug. 31 from 4-6pm and Saturday, Sept. 1, 7:30 - 8:15am.

Where can I camp?

Camping spots will be assigned adjacent to or near the Start/Finish Line. Solo riders will receive spots closest to the timing/transition tent. Because space and parking is limited on campus, parking will be off-site. If you wish to use an RV, let us know when registering so accommodations can be made.

Why are buckles only available to 24-hour solo riders?

As with the Leadville Trail 100 Mountain Bike Race – in which earning the coveted silver and gold buckles is an outstanding achievement – we wish to recognize the grit and determination of the individual rider. Even so, all participants who complete at least one lap will receive a very special race memento. In true Leadville tradition, the course is challenging and demanding – all riders who race on it should be proud of their accomplishment.

When must I have lights with me?

Riders starting a lap between 5:30pm and 6:15am must have a primary lighting system, a red tail light, and a backup lighting system. Use your best judgment. On the weekend of September 1-2, official sunset will be at 7:31pm and official sunrise at 6:37am. Plan accordingly.

Will there be aid stations?

There will be 2 aid stations: one well-stocked aid station at the transition area and another near the halfway point (fluids only).

Rules

1. For your final lap to count, you must be across the finish line by 10pm for the 12-hour race or 10am for the 24-hour race. Solo riders or teams may “finish” their race any time they wish – there is no requirement to finish after 10pm for the 12-hour race or 10am for the 24-hour race.

2. For the 24-hour race, each team member must ride a minimum of one day-lap and one night-lap.

3. ALL riders MUST wear a helmet. Race numbers must be displayed at all times.

4. Rider exchanges must be made in the timing/transition tent. This event will be chip timed. The chip is your baton. Solo riders - or team riders completing consecutive laps - must check in at the tent when finishing each lap and before beginning a new lap.

5. The course will be well marked. Riding off course or intentionally taking a shortcut will lead to disqualification.

6. Riders must have a headlamp and backup light.

7. The number of laps completed in both the 12- and 24-hour races will determine the order of finish. If there is a tie in number of laps, the amount of time taken to complete that lap will be used. (For example, if two riders finish 10 laps, the first in 23 hours and 30 minutes and the second in 23 hours and 35 minutes, the first rider will have finished ahead of the second rider.)
