Take on 50 miles of extreme territory that starts at 10,200 feet and reaches 12,000 feet four times. It will leave your lungs burning, heart pounding and eyes completely amazed — while also preparing you for the pinnacle Leadville 100.
The 50-mile out-and-back course takes racers through the historic mining district on the east side of Leadville. Primarily on dirt roads, first set by miners and their burros, it will begin at the Cloud City Ski Hut (located just below Colorado Mountain College on Hwy 24 on the South end of Leadville). None of the roads used will be closed to vehicle traffic, so please use caution. The route will take runners by and between many grand and historic gold and silver mines.

Drop Bags
We will take drop bags to Stumptown (only). If you wish to use a drop bag, there will be a designated area to leave it near the registration table on Sunday morning. You must leave your bag in this area by 5:30am. We will return the bags to the start/finish by 4pm. And you must reclaim your bag by 8pm.
Please mark your bag clearly and ensure it is durable (e.g., plastic grocery bags not advised). Please also ensure your bag is no larger than 11x14.
Course Cut-Offs
There is a 14-hour time limit and aid station cut-offs will occur at: 4:15pm - Printer Boy inbound (34.5m) and 6:00pm - Black Cloud inbound (40m).
Our desire is to see everyone finish, and we’ll support you as best we can to make that happen. However, if we do need to remove someone for missing the cut-off, the decision of the race official is final. Lake County Search and Rescue will be conducting sweep and providing on course medical support.
Aid Stations
There will be 7 well-supplied aid stations.
Trash and Recycling
There will be trash and recycling containers at all full aid stations and the start/finish line. Please discard any trash in an appropriate container or within 100 yards of the aid station. Intentional littering on the course will be grounds for disqualification. The course – on trails both public and private – travels past many historic sites and through areas of exceptional beauty. Help us keep them pristine.
We will be recycling all plastic and aluminum during these races, and all our events. We’ll take care of this at the aid stations. At the start/finish, please ensure you place trash or recyclable materials in the appropriate containers, which will be well marked.
